Dr David Stevens is an early career researcher, having received his PhD from the University of Sydney in December 2015. David is a sleep and respiratory scientist at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, Flinders University. Before this, he was an exercise physiologist, with Honours in exercise and sport science (University of Sydney). David has experience in spinal cord and stroke rehabilitation, and has lectured in motor control, motor learning, and exercise physiology.

David began sleep research in 2012 at the Woolcock Institute for Medical Research, and after completing his PhD took up a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Adelaide Institute for Sleep Health, funded by the CRC for Alertness, Safety, and Productivity. David currently conducts research into alternative treatments for obstructive sleep apnea, and biomarkers of neurocognitive failure in obstructive sleep apnea patients. He has a keen interest in combining previous experience and knowledge in rehabilitation with sleep, in particular the role of sleep in improving rehabilitation outcomes.
